2018 Women's Advocacy Day

Advocacy day is an annual event held by the Mass. Commission on the Status of Women (MCSW) to advocate for legislation that advances the rights and opportunities of women. The MCSW invites all members of the community to attend and participate in Advocacy Day, and stand in support of women throughout Massachusetts.

In partnership with the YWCA and schools in New Bedford, the Women's Fund helps to train and then bring women from Southeastern Massachusetts to the Capitol for the event.

The Commission discusses key findings from the previous year in collaboration with regional Commissions, reports findings collected from public hearings hosted during the year throughout the Commonwealth, and lays out our legislative priorities for the coming session. Attendees also hear from the Commission Chair, regional Commission Chairs and state legislators.

The event includes time for members of the Commission and supporters to visit legislators to discuss priority legislation.

The Women’s Fund advances economic security for women and girls in Southeastern MA, promoting equity across race, ethnicity, class, sexuality, gender identity and country of origin.  We build partnerships and use our voice, advocacy, and grantmaking to foster a more just region.
