2019 Women's Advocacy Day - Tuesday, May 21

Advocacy day is an annual event held by the Mass. Commission on the Status of Women (MCSW) to advocate for legislation that advances the rights and opportunities of women. The MCSW invites all members of the community to attend and participate in Advocacy Day, and stand in support of women throughout Massachusetts. In partnership with the YWCA and schools in New Bedford, the Women's Fund helps to train and then bring women from Southeastern Massachusetts to the Capitol for the event.

This year, over 100 women and girls from the SouthCoast joined us at the State House for Women's Advocacy Day, advocating for universal childcare, an act to increase menstrual products in prisons, schools, and homeless shelters, and an act to support working parents who choose to run for office.

The Women’s Fund advances economic security for women and girls in Southeastern MA, promoting equity across race, ethnicity, class, sexuality, gender identity and country of origin.  We build partnerships and use our voice, advocacy, and grantmaking to foster a more just region.
