Our Leadership Role

The Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts takes special pride in their leadership role, which works to facilitate, advise, convene and/or respond to critical community issues, such as education, the arts and the environment.

The Women's Fund continues this mission focusing on effectively meeting the needs of women and girls in our region.

Women, especially single head-of-households fall far below the state median income in Southeastern Massachusetts, and a quarter of women in New Bedford and Fall River live below the federal poverty level.

Through research and advocacy, the Women's Fund has become a leader in directing funding to organizations and causes that will have the most sustainable impact.

The Women’s Fund advances economic security for women and girls in Southeastern MA, promoting equity across race, ethnicity, class, sexuality, gender identity and country of origin.  We build partnerships and use our voice, advocacy, and grantmaking to foster a more just region.
